Winters are looooooong around these parts and as soon as the first above-freezing days happen, the kids sit in front of our family room windows waiting ever-so-impatiently for the snow to melt off of our trampoline. We bought the trampoline at Wal-Mart. It wasn't expensive, but it has been, by far, the best investment we have made for our new house. Instead of being cooped up inside after school, the kids are outside from the moment they get home from school until I call them for dinner. Not only are they outside in the fresh air getting exercise (Without them even realizing that they are exercising! Bonus!), but more importantly, they are playing together. I couldn't pay them to play together inside.
Best. Investment. Ever.
It's built-in entertainment, and play, and fun.
But for our family it goes beyond the trampoline, obviously, and from the moment the snow thaws, we are out and about. Last weekend we and some friends took our kids on an adventure to Sugarbush, where they could see how maple syrup is made. The kids got to watch the process from sap to bottle...and then even got to have a little taste at each step!
The kids had the best time.
And now we have heard about a new activity that we can do as a family.
Have you seen these green tabs on Sprite and Sprite Zero cans?
Well, they aren't just a pretty little addition to the cans. No! These are part of an ongoing Sprite initiative to refresh parks, playgrounds and active spaces across the nation. Starting April 1st every green tab you and your family can collect, Sprite will donate TEN CENTS to Habitat for Humanity. My kids have been having a blast collecting the green tabs and I have been making a lot of meatballs (YES. I do have a meatball recipe that uses Sprite. If you ask me nicely, I might share it with you...it's a real crowd pleaser!)
Because I want YOU to get collecting for this great cause, I'm going to be giving away a $100 Shutterfly.com gift card! All you have to do is - between today, May 5th, 2011 until May 25th, 2011 - leave a comment and tell me what you and your family like to do outside together. Easy Peasy, no?
Make sure visit the Promotions & Prizes section of Blogher for MORE chances to win! And make sure to Visit the Spark Park Sprite Hub official site for even more details!
Now...go on! Get collecting! And if you'd like to know how you can send it your tabs, you can visit www.SpriteGreenTabs.com.

Play is very important to our family...we especially love the warmer weather when we can picnic and hike the peaks around our area. It really brings us very close as a family.
